Action figures and comic books rule my life. I wholeheartedly believe that superheroes make up our modern mythology. The ritual of finding and collecting comics and toys satisfies my hunter-gather instinct. The Flash is the fastest man alive, Han shot first, and the TARDIS is bigger on the inside! I am NERD!
In 2010 my world got a little bigger. I began volunteering at a sanctuary for neglected farm animals. The personalities there convinced me that ending another living being’s life because you thought it tasted good was wrong. The truth that eating animal products meant that a living being had to suffer and die or at the very least, live in a manner contrary to its natural life cycle, became too upsetting. It felt really good to stop eating animal products, and I wanted to do more. I wanted to share that feeling the same way that I liked to tell someone about a particularly good comic book, or to show off my toy collection. But I didn’t want to be “that guy” – I didn’t want to be preachy. What to do, what to do?
There probably aren’t two more disparate interests than toy collecting and veganism. But I thought that this odd couple – this chocolate & peanut butter – could help each other make sharing them entertaining to other people.

Love your concept and bright funky photographs- though I’ve no idea how you’d work a horny melon into one…hold on, wait…you could poke in eyes or buy googly eyes stick ons and make it a monster, propped up on legs snapped off an action figure from a dollar store or McDonalds happy meal toy…arms too, I guess. what would it’s super powers be? Well, he’s SUper Horny Melon Man, you tell me!
I regretfully mention I spent a few years hand-sculpting miniature dolls and figures, and can make almost anything out of sculpey and fimo…just for the fun of it, maybe I’ll create something and arrange to email you a photo…any suggestions?
Thanks for the kudos.
I’d love to see anything food related with Sculpey. If you feel like it, pick whatever food you want to make and I could match it to the appropriate character. I’m always curious to see what others do with Sculpey – when I had more energy and patience I used to work with it a lot – it can be really amazing. But now it’s more of a love/hate relationship. I use it when necessary in my custom action figures.
Cool blog!!! So original!
Thanks for taking the time to say so
I love your blog! Maybe I can trick myself into eating gross foods if I just play with my barbies, storm troopers, and Indiana Jones action figures while I eat…hmmm…
Keep up the amazing work

Chris – your kind post meant a lot to me, thank you! And even if you hadn’t featured us, I’d still be happy I found YOUR site. Good stuff!
I love this blog! At 44, I am also a avid comic book reader with my husband and I having a large collection dating back to early 70s! Plan to hopefully attend the NY Comic-Con this year. Love the combination of the love for comics and vegetarianism/veganism. That’s what I talk about in my blog-being yourself…continue to love your hobbies and joys as a vegan or vegetarian…too many vegetarian and vegans try to be above others. Your blog, mine, and others make vegetarianism and veganism user-friendly and showing it’s an easy lifestyle to maintain. My kudoos to youI Visit my blog somtime too
Donna “Sister Vegetarian”
I just finished a 10 day cleanse with Cleanse America, during which sub-groups on that site formed, one of which I joined being Doctor Who fans. There was a total of two of us in that group. That somehow inspired me to do a search for “raw food” whovians, and that’s how I found your site, actually the post with the Doctor Who figures. With Doctor Who not being a raw foodist or even a vegetarian, it’s not surprising that the search did not pull up a lot. This site, however, is a delight. Not being a comic nerd (although I used to work with a guy who was as well as creating his own strip on the side) or a toy collector (at least not since my daughter outgrew fast food Disney toys), I nontheless found the way you combine these interests with the food thing colorful and entertaining and whimsical. So I decided to follow your blog for some smiles and occasional chuckles. Thanks.
